Site HSE and QBS Manager (Health, Safety and Environment and Quality Business Systems) – Kekaha or Kunia, HI - 1159 Role Purpose – This position will support all Health, Safety and Environmental and Quality Business System activities for both of the sites in Hawaii (Oahu and Kauai). Other responsibilities will be assisting with seed treatment record keeping and inventory accuracy at the site. Accountabilities – Tasks may include but not limited to • Assure local compliance with OSHA and Syngenta training, record keeping and reporting requirements. • Assure local compliance with Quality Business System training, record keeping and reporting requirements. • Provide HSE and QBS leadership, training and direction for all site personnel at both sites. • Responsible for all monthly and annual HSE and QBS reporting for site and maintain records associated with both on a daily basis. • Create and communicate safety training, meeting, SAMACO inspection schedules and ensure that schedules are followed. • Create and communicate QBS internal audit schedules and see that schedules are followed. • Prepare site for HSE and QBS internal and external audits of compliance with Syngenta and government regulations. • Administer site safety rewards program. • Resource for HSE and QBS questions for all site employees. • Become familiar with seed treating equipment at the site and see that equipment is kept in calibration and application rates are accurate. Maintain all related records. • Become familiar with SAP inventory transactions, assist in maintaining accurate inventory records. Guidelines for Responsibilities • High levels planning responsibility and innovation. • Will impact financial, quality and safety issues at a job specific level. • Requires minimal supervision and direction. • Contributes to teamwork and has significant external interaction. • High level of complexity involving multiple tasks and requirements of varied technical skills. Knowledge, experience & capabilities - Critical knowledge • Bachelors degree plus four years experience. In the absence of degree, eight to ten years of experience required. • Course work in safety and/or environmental issues. • Experience with ISO 9001:2000 or related certification preferred. • Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygenist designation is beneficial. Critical experience • Seed/agricultural industry experience preferred but not necessary • Previous work with a multi-national organization is beneficial Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities • Ability to actively listen, understand, communicate (verbal and written) and build consensus in a diverse global environment with various levels of leadership • Detail oriented with strong project management capability • Superior written and verbal communication skills • Interpersonal savvy • Coaching and/or training experience • Customer service orientation • Experience in establishing effective partnerships within and outside of the organization. • Skilled at working with multiple teams across geographic boundaries • Strong leadership skills (people and projects) Critical leadership capabilities • Knowledge of HSE regulations • Ability to effectively train employees • Team orientated • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time • Ability to meet deadlines • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred), database beneficial. Additional Information WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Must be able to use computer for significant periods of time • Must be able to walk or stand for extended period of time when completing audits • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. • Ability to travel to both Hawaii sites extensively, as well as the mainland several times per year.
