There’s never been a more important time to join Syngenta. Supply Technician II - Kekaha (Kauai), HI - 1479 Role Purpose – Responsible for executing production plant tasks assign by Plant Management. May be required to monitor, operate and maintain both plant and field technical production equipment. Perform in assigned department to insure all required processes, procedures, and production requirements are met. May be asked to perform assigned tasks without direct Supervision. Contributes to an operational culture founded on HSE and supply management processes built from innovation and continuous process improvement. Accountabilities – Tasks may include but not limited to: Field Activities: Crop Scout, Cutter/Puller Operator, Fertilizer Technician, Field Tillage Operator, Machine Mover, Male Row Destruction, Pesticide Sprayer Technician, Silk and Pollen Notes Collector General/Administrative: Maintenance Operator Harvest: Harvest Transportation, Green Corn Sorting Technician, Dump Cart Operator, Assistant Sheller Operator Rework, Conditioning, Treating and Packaging: Quality Assurance and PCL Technician Warehouse, Distribution, Discard and Maintain Product: Seed Delivery (Non CDL Driver), Pick-Stage-Load Operator, Fork Truck Operator General Accountabilities: Maintains a safe work environment in accordance with HSE policies. Performs tasks within the frameworks established by Syngenta management systems. Supports the mission of being a reliable supplier of high quality seed. Guidelines for Responsibilities Shall comply with all Syngenta and legal safety policies Identify, report and remediate if possible any unsafe acts or conditions within the facility Manages people and processes 0 to 25% of time May contribute input for plan development Could impact financial, quality and safety issues at a job specific level Requires supervision/direction over 50% of time Contributes to teamwork and has minimal external interaction May require multiple job skills at varying complexity Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities – Critical knowledge: • Must be High School graduate or GED degree • Associate degree is preferred • Commercial Pesticide Applicators License or the ability to obtain Critical experience: • 1 year Seed industry, Ag Business or Ag related experience preferred • Maintenance and welding experience preferred but not necessary • Farm machinery operating experience preferred Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities: • Good communication skills while working with co-workers • Good organization skills during planning of daily work activities • Team Orientated to work with everyone at the plant to successfully complete work schedule and to accomplish safety goals • Some PC and business software skills • Some supervisory skills • Decisive • Trusted -Will need to make good sound judgment calls in regards to seed quality management that will be for the best interest of the company • Results-Oriented • Innovative - To always look to implement new procedures or technologies to improve work efficiencies. • Ability to adapt to changing environmental/situational needs • Ability to make timely, effective decisions and develop backup plans/options to have available when making decisions • Ability to remain flexible and responsive when faced with multiple time sensitive requests • Will need to help out in other areas of the plant either in office or plant as work load requires • CDL license may be required • Ability to read and interpret written documents such as HSE policies, ISO work instructions, and various other written materials necessary to complete assigned tasks Critical leadership capabilities: • Good communication skills • Senses and adapts to the changing environment to achieve excellence in delivery • Detail/Accuracy Oriented Critical success factors: • Achieve annual HSE targets • COGP Targets • Quality Targets • Plant Process Improvement Plans • Plant and Supply Chain KPI’s Additional Information – PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Must be able to read reports, write legibly, possess good math and computer skills • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. • Must be able to walk or stand for extended period of time • Climb ladders and stairs in plant and storage bins • To work outside at different heights levels on storage bins and elevator legs WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Noisy dusty environments • Longer hours during peak seasonal times • Hot or cold conditions • Must be able to work in field under adverse conditions • Work in satellite growing areas as required • Weekend and shift work possible during peak seasonal times OTHER • A valid driver license • All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work only.
